About Mugworx
Mugworx was formalized in 2005 as a conservation initiative dedicated to safeguarding and documenting the legacy of the B-Boy, or “Mugsy,” character style pioneered in the early 1980s by members of the TC5 crew. That visual language, defined by expressive poses, exaggerated proportions, bold outlines, and streetwise New York attitude, was carried forward by the next generation of TC5 and partners, FC Crew and IBM Crew, evolving over the years, but maintaining its core identity.
The original mission of Mugworx was preservation and education. The project was created to formalize, protect, and articulate the history of this character tradition within graffiti culture, ensuring that its origins, development, and influence were properly represented.
Over time, Mugworx expanded into a platform for contemporary application of that lineage. The brand develops original characters, produces Graphics and Motion Graphics work rooted in the B-Boy aesthetic, and translates that visual system into wearable and collectible formats, as well as 2D Animation.
In addition to its creative output, Mugworx operates as a consultancy focused on character development, and brand collaboration. The studio works with partners to build stylized character systems, visual identities, and culturally grounded projects informed by decades of experience within graffiti and street culture.
Mugworx remains anchored in its founding purpose: to preserve, evolve, and professionally deploy a character tradition that originated in the early era of New York graffiti and continues to influence visual culture today.
